In this workshop hosted by Ali Smith of Salt & Still, participants will learn the basics of bundle dyeing with natural materials. You will work with natural dyes including local, everyday dyestuffs like onion and avocado skins and sourced materials like madder root and logwood. Participants will also learn how to choose and prepare textiles for dyeing, how the process of bundle dyeing extracts color from natural materials, and how to fix color to cloth. You will look at Ali's personal collection of bundle dyed swatches for color inspiration and participants will use the techniques learned in this workshop to create a bundle dyed scarf. 

Everyone will leave with a bundle dyed scarf and the knowledge of how to bundle dye at home.

Workshop participants will be supplied with a wheel thrown stoneware jug by Greg Laplaca. During the 3 1/2 hour workshop, participants will be guided through adding all the features to create their very own face jug. 

After the workshop, Greg will bring the jugs back to his studio to be glazed and fired. 

Once fired, the pots will be available for pick-up at The Market. Drying and firing usually takes 2-3 weeks. 

Glazing, firing, and all materials are included.

During this three hour long workshop we will cover the basics of macrame and create a multi-layered wall hanging that is full of detail. All supplies needed to create your hanger will be provided. 

Light refreshments will be provided. 

The workshop will take place in front of the Convention Hall marquee from 12 PM - 3 PM. 

There are 10 spots available to keep the learning environment open and allow quality time with each and every student as they learn this new skill.

The Asbury Park Holiday Bazaar will take place every Saturday & Sunday, November 26th - December 18th, 2016, from noon to 5 PM, in the Grand Arcade of Convention Hall. The bazaar will feature local and regional artists and vendors selling unique gifts and handcrafted goods including jewelry, accessories, clothing, art, photography, home goods, vintage, food and much more! Join us for weekend-long celebration of local art, music, makers, and summer in Asbury Park!

On Saturday & Sunday, September 24 + 25 from noon to 5 PM, the Asbury Park Bazaar will feature 40+ artisan and independent vendors selling handmade, vintage items, art, photography, jewelry, home goods, handmade furniture, food and more in the Grand Arcade of Convention Hall in Asbury Park.

Join us Labor Day Weekend for a special Design Market and Workshop Series presented by Young & Able

Dates and Time: Saturday, 9/3, and Sunday, 9/4 from 11 AM - 7 PM

Location: The Overlook, 2nd Floor of Convention Hall, 1300 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park

Happy Hour will be from 4 PM - 7 PM both days. 

In addition to shopping, the following workshops will be in session:

Indigo Shibori Dye Workshop hosted by Salt & Still (9/3 from 1 PM - 4 PM) & Soothing Face & Body Mist by Palermo Body (9/3 from 3 PM - 4 PM or 9/4 from 1 PM - 2 PM)

Salt & Still presents: Fringe, tassels, and braids - Fiber Jewelry Making Workshop at The Market on Saturday, August 27th from 1-3 pm. 

Everyone will learn to design a unique piece of jewelry using fiber skills like tassel making, fringe making, braiding and wrapping with thread. Working with materials like rope, thread, yarn, and embellishments, participants will create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. 

$40 to attend. Register here
